Vincent (Jim) J. Santanasto, passed away peacefully in his Chestnut Hill Pennsylvania home on December 22, 2024 at the age of 98. Born in Bethlehem PA, he was the son of the late Aniello and Rose (Iannelli) Santanastasio. Vince was married to his beloved Kathleen (Carberry) for 48 years until her passing just a little over two months ago.
Vincent grew up in Bethlehem PA where he graduated high school and then joined his four older brothers in military service during WWII. After Vincent was honorably discharged from the US Army, he started a lifelong career with the US Postal Service. At the time of his retirement, he was Postmaster at the Harleysville, PA Post Office.
Vincent enjoyed following Lehigh University and Philadelphia sports teams. He was an active member of Our Mother of Consolation Parish where he volunteered his time and talents in various ministries. He was also very active with the Society of St Vincent de Paul. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and treated his many nieces and nephews as his own. Together Vince and Kathleen enjoyed many summers in Ocean City NJ, walking the trails of the Wissahickon, gatherings at PlyMar Swim Club, and exploring their beloved Chestnut Hill community.
Uncle Vince/ Uncle Jim will be remembered by his nieces and nephews who will miss his storytelling and boisterous personality. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael (Mildred), Louis (Marie), Dominic (Helen), and Anthony (Eva) and sisters Mary (Jim) Lamb and Rose Claus, along with two nieces and several nephews.
A viewing at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM will be held on Saturday, January 4, at Our Mother of Consolation Catholic Church, 9 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Interment will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 661 W. Germantown Pike, Suite 210, Plymouth Meeting PA 19462.
