Thomas (Tom) Edward Beatty, 62, of Flourtown, Pa. passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023, following a brief illness at Chestnut Hill Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was born June 26, 1961, in Clarksburg, WV, the third son of Calvin and Margaret Beatty, who predeceased him as well as his stepfather Edward Wagner and his brother Michael Beatty. Mr. Beatty is survived by his wife Dana, of Willow Grove, Pa., brother Stephan, sister-in-law Angela and niece Rachel of Independence, MO, and Aunt Carolyn Waddell Woodford of Philippi, WV. His stepbrothers Gary Wagner of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Scott Wagner of Buckhannon, WV, also survive him.
Tom graduated from Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg, WV, and attended West Virginia University and Fairmont State University. He married Dana in 1982, and they moved to Alexandria, VA in 1985 where Tom managed Hi Gear Auto Parts Stores before becoming a buyer for the chain. He worked for Hi-Gear until the business closed in 1996. Trak Auto Corporation hired Tom as a Merchandise Buyer in 1996. In 1998 Pep Boys in Philadelphia hired Tom as a Senior Category Manager. In later years he was the General Manager at BG Wholesale until the business closed in 2020.
Tom was active in his Chestnut Hill neighborhood, notably in his membership of the Chestnut Hill Bocce Club. Family, Friends and co-workers are welcome to A Celebration of his Life scheduled for Saturday November 4, 2023, starting at 7:30pm at the Chestnut Hill Bocce Club. Donations are welcome honoring Tom’s many years volunteering to the CHBC July 4th Celebration and may be mailed to 118 East Hartwell Lane, Philadelphia PA 19118.
