Obituary for Sallie Blake Loughran On Sunday, May 27th, Sallie Blake Loughran died peacefully with her family at her side at her residence at the Hill at Whitemarsh. She was predeceased by her parents; Sidney Stillman and Alice (Ellzey) Blake and a brother; Sidney Stillman Blake Jr.; and husbands; T. Lewis Thomas II, William H. L. Sullivan, and David P. Loughran. Sallie was a lifelong resident of the Chestnut Hill area and was a member of the Springside School Class of 1948. Sallie was a direct descendant to George Mason, one of the United States’ Founding Fathers. Her grandfather was a founder of Chestnut Hill Hospital. For most of her life, Sallie divided much of her time on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, where she was an active tennis player at the Little Egg Harbor Yacht Club in Beach Haven, NJ. As a student at Springside, she was known for her athletic ability and her fierce competitiveness. Throughout her life, Sallie was a devoted mother to her children and grandmother to her grandsons. She was a special lady who loved and was loved by so many people around her. She is survived by a daughter; Carey Mason Maloumian and her husband; Royden Menas Maloumian, a son; T. Lewis Thomas III and his wife, Erika Keller Thomas and their son Carson Rozell, grandsons; Hadji Alexander Cheston Maloumian and his wife, Claudia Vargas Maloumian, and Hunter Royden Haig Maloumian and his fiancé, Valerie Herrmann. From her marriage to William H. L. Sullivan, she is survived by her stepsons; William and Mark Sullivan and stepdaughter; Eugenia Ralph. A celebration of Sallie’s life will be held at a later date.
