Patricia Britt Volk

March 18, 1947 — June 1, 2024

Patricia Britt Volk, loving daughter, devoted wife, dear sister, beloved aunt and great-aunt passed away peacefully at her home overnight on June 1, 2024, with her husband of 53 years, Albert “Tiger” Volk by her side.

Patricia was born in Philadelphia on March 18, 1947, the daughter of John and Florence (Comey) Britt. She was the younger sister of Florence Britt Gunn (Jerry Clay) and was predeceased by her parents and her younger brother John. (Nancy). She is also survived by her Volk brothers and sisters-in-law, Joseph (Toni), Mary Ann (Greg), Gregory (Gloria); predeceased by brother-in-law John.

Pat’s demanding professional career with the Federal Government, eventually rising to the position of Medicare Contractor Management Officer never stood in the way of cherished time with friends and family, hosting extraordinary parties and dinners and gathering at restaurants, enjoying house tours, and generally having fun. Go Phils!!!

Patty (Patricia, Pat, even Petunia to some) had an incisive way of summing up the world she saw around her, with wit and turns of phrase that were unforgettable. But in the end, her spirit was boundlessly generous and caring to all, and she was far more interested in everyone else’s stories than in talking about herself. She never forgot a detail and always managed to make all whom she met feel very special. She had an extensive collection of devoted girlfriends.

At the beach! With a good book or a good friend or both. Pat was always happiest there, whether it be Sea Isle City NJ as a young girl, Margate NJ, where she met Tiger, Ocean City NJ for countless years of summer rentals and Anna Maria Island FL where she and Tiger returned for a few months every January through mid-March. She took many one-day roundtrips from Chestnut Hill to Ocean City, just to spend some time in the sand. She and Tiger also enjoyed numerous trips to California and the American West.

Patty was the very proud aunt of the Gunns - Joe (Teresa), Jack (Bernadette) and Florence (Michael Gallagher). But there was nothing to compare to the affection she had for the next generation of her great-nephews and nieces, also known as “The Cherubs”. She and Tiger devoted at least one day per week to the care and feeding of Joey, Tiger and Lucy Gunn and Mikey Gallagher, aka Cherubs’ Day. Jack and Bernadette and their children, Emma, Gavin, and Ryan live in Northern FL but always got a visit from Patty and Tiger on their way to Anna Maria, of course.

Private Celebration of Life to be held soon.
