Maurice Lynn Stone

Maurice Lynn Stone, 87, went to be with his Savior on September 7, 2024. Born July 17, 1937 in Bluford, Ill to Fred and Clara Stone he was brother to Paul (Elaine) (Lois), Norma (Shelow), Otis (Sandra) and Lambert (Jane) Stone. Married December 31, 1962 to Lenore Nancy Zimmerling for 62 blessed years they bore five beautiful talented daughters: Sharon Michelle Priest (Tom), Karen Laurelle Stowe (Dru), Holly Rachelle Pak (Kenneth), Laurie Danielle Stone (Ottey, Ted), and Christy Gabrielle Lynn (Matt). He was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 11+ great grandchildren.

 Maury received his EdD from Temple University in Phila., taught at Slippery Rock University in PA, Cedarville University in Ohio, and in 1976 received a personal invitation to teach at Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA.

 A gifted mind and thirst for knowledge resulted in many accolades from an FFA (Future Farmers of America) convention recitation in Chicago, selected to join the United States Air Force and received honorable discharge in 1959, full scholarship at Temple University, tenured as full professor at Liberty University, voted Best Teacher of the Year by the student body, privileged professor to video tape for LUSLLL (Liberty School of LifeLong Learning), and significantly contributed to the accrediting committee. His popularity with colleagues and acquaintances would often bring a smile to their face.

 His retirement years in PA helped in-laws in building projects. With Lenore he worshiped at Valley Forge Baptist Temple under Pastor Scott Wendal who with Jodie became very dear friends. In South Carolina they appreciated the leadership of their Pastor Nathan Thomas of First Baptist Church in Greer and teacher Dr. Rob Congdon. 

 The family appreciates the service of The Wood Mortuary in Greer. The funeral service with Pastor Ron Coulton officiating will be Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Jacob F. Ruth Funeral Home, 8413 Germantown Ave, Chestnut Hill, PA 19118 at 11:30 o'clock AM with special musical prelude and viewing at 11:00AM. Please feel welcome.
