Mark Fletcher Toconita, a devoted father, grandfather, and esteemed architect, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on August 14, 1946, in Philadelphia, PA, he was a lifelong resident who built not only a successful career, but a life rich in creativity and love for his family.
A gifted architect, Mark dedicated his career to shaping spaces that blended beauty with purpose. His passion for design was matched only by his love of history and the arts, both a constant presence in his life. Above all, he found his greatest joy in his family, never missing an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their sporting events.
Mark is survived by his loving children, April Callahan and Marcus Toconita (Lindsey); his sister, Aurelie Laurence; and his cherished grandchildren, Maya and Aiden Callahan, and Marin and Miles Toconita, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with Words of Remembrance at 11:30 AM, at Jacob F. Ruth Funeral Home in Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia. A luncheon will follow, and all are welcome to join in celebrating Mark’s life.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mark’s memory may be made to 88.5 WXPN or The Arts League of Philadelphia.
Mark will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, talent, and unwavering love for his family.
