Marie A. (née Tobin) Van Haute, aged 69 years, of Wyndmoor, PA, died March 3, 2022. A native New Yorker, she was born and raised in Brooklyn, where she lived until she graduated from Saint Joseph’s College. She moved to Philadelphia in 1983 and began growing roots in the Chestnut Hill and Wyndmoor communities, bonds that remain strong to this day. A dedicated mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend, Marie’s unconditional love was felt by all who knew her. The wife of Paul Van Haute and the mother of Katherine Dameron (Chesny) and David Chesny, she is also survived by her stepchildren Elizabeth Geise (Van Haute) and Alex Van Haute; sons-in-law Patrick Dameron and Benjamin Geise; her four grandchildren Declan and Finn Dameron and Will and Lily Geise; her brother Ron Tobin (Brian Haviland); and sisters Pat Tame and Susan Maringo (Sal). Marie was a student of life and an avid reader. There were few topics of learning that did not interest her. She wanted to understand other people’s passions, then try to attain a basic knowledge of those passions for herself. It was through this lifetime of self-education that her wisdom grew and spread to those in her presence. Marie was incredibly grateful for all that was offered to her throughout her life, and, because of that, she offered what she had to others. Marie lived each day to the fullest. She was an outdoor enthusiast and often would be found running and biking with her family or walking around her beloved community. Marie’s Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, March 10, at Our Mother of Consolation Church located at 9 East Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Visitation will start at 9:00 am, followed by Mass at 10:00 am. The family requests that those in attendance wear masks. Additionally, the family will be accepting donations of warm socks for the homeless, to be presented as a gift during the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any of Marie’s favorite charities listed below: The Fresh Air Fund Heifer International Women for Women Project Home Habitat for Humanity Philabundance
