John L. “Jack” Dempsey

Passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023 at the age of 94. Jack was a loving husband of 72 years to Dorothy (Bilikiewicz), father to John (Diane), Denise (Edward) and Kevin (Rosemarie), and grandfather to Jason, Ryan, Stephanie, Lisbeth, Rebecca, Brie-Anne, Jessica, Brittany, Christopher and nine great-grandchildren.  Jack was a graduate of Northeast Catholic High School and attended the University of Maryland where he was a member of the varsity football team.  He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a proud member of the USMC’s football team.  

With his wife Dorothy, Jack owned and operated a business in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Philadelphia and was a devoted community leader, helping to organize the Port Richmond Community Association.  In addition, he was very active in several other community and political organizations serving as a Democratic Committee Person while supporting the Democratic party his entire life. Family and Community meant everything to Jack and he leaves a proud and impactful legacy.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM, with no viewing, on Tuesday Nov. 7, 2023 at Our Mother of Consolation Church 9 E. Chestnut Hill Ave. Phila, PA 19118.  Interment will be private.
