BELLIS Dr. John Bellis, D.O., F.A.O.C.A. (Fellow of American Osteopathic College of Anesthesiologists) on October 10, 2018 of Chestnut Hill, Philadelphia and North Cape May. Served as a 1st Lieutenant with the 1st Air Cavalry in Vietnam. Began his profession in the medical field by training in nursing at Pennsylvania Hospital. He was in the Class of 1977 at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Interned, Resident, Professor and Chief Anesthesiologist at the Hospital of Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. He also worked as an anesthesiologist at Roxborough Hospital and Wills Eye Surgery Centers. He had a great love for music. He played the organ and piano beautifully. He served as an organist at Our Mother of Consolation Church in the late 1970’s and performed in the V.F.W. Drum and Bugle Corp in the 1950’s. The beach in Cape May was his happy place which he shared with his Broadway Beach Buddies. He was greatly loved by his friends, family, co-workers, and patients. He is survived by his brother William Bellis, and 50-year partner Joe Murray. Predeceased by his father Edward, mother Elizabeth (nee Kenney), stepmother Ruth (nee Gray), brother Edward, sister Barbara Zepp and grandmother Elizabeth Bellis (nee Fox). Relatives and friends may call at Our Mother of Consolation Church, 9 E. Chestnut Hill Ave., Phila., PA 19118, Monday, October 15th at 9AM. Funeral Mass 10AM. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or Our Mother of Consolation Church.
