James Michael Stellato, 102, passed away on October 28, 2024, in his Philadelphia home.
James, or Pop, was born on December 4, 1921, in Philadelphia. He served in Europe in WWII, signing up with his immigrant father, and in the Korean War. He met his wife, Kimiko, while in Japan after the Korean War, and they returned together to his family home in Mt. Airy. Pop worked for the City of Philadelphia and spent time at his son’s Auto Shop after retirement. He passed away in the same room in which he was born.
Pop is survived by his children Jim (Marie), Joe (Kathleen), Mike, Joanne (Nobuyuki) and Kathy; his grandchildren Lizzy (Sol), Jimbo (Eugie), Mary, Dave, Kathryn, and Kyra, and one great grandchild, Kimiko. He was preceded in death by his wife and his son Dave.
A viewing at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. will be held on Monday, November 4, at Holy Cross Church, 140 East Mt. Airy Avenue, Philadelphia, PA. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that anyone who would like to remember Pop to please consider making a donation to their favorite charity in his name.
