Frances Dunning Borie Frances Dunning Borie, a lifelong resident of Chestnut Hill and Wyndmoor died peacefully at Cathedral Village, Philadelphia, on January 17. She was 97. Fran, as she was called by family and friends, was the daughter of Norman Dunning and Ansie Naylor Dunning. She attended Springside School, graduating from Springfield High. For over twenty years, Mrs. Borie was the owner of Sports and Specialties, a women’s clothing store on Germantown Avenue in Chestnut Hill. As a member of the Chestnut Hill Development Association, she was well known and respected on the “Hill”, participating on the board and in many of local events over the years. Mrs. Borie was one of the founding members of Random Garden Club and received many awards in floral competitions. She was a member of The Acorn Club and a lifelong member of The Philadelphia Cricket Club. A true extrovert, Mrs. Borie loved meeting new people and cultivating her friendships. She excelled at entertaining her many friends and family, taking great care and pride in setting beautiful tables with her own flower arrangements. An avid golfer and bridge player, she also loved gardening and traveling. Mrs. Borie was predeceased by her husband, Alfred C. Borie, her brother George A. Dunning, and her sister Diana D. Madden. She is survived by her daughters Anne B. Clements and her husband, Robert M. Clements, Julia C. Borie, and Ellen B. Moreland and her husband, Scott W. Moreland, grandchildren MacMillan Clements II, Robert B. Clements, Scott W. Moreland Jr., Allison C. Moreland and thirteen nephews and nieces. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2023, 4:00PM at the Church of St. Martin in the Fields, 8000 St. Martin's Lane, Phila., PA 19118.
