Alexa Kane (nee Charbonneau), 89, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 25, 2024, in the presence of her loving children. Alexa was born of the late Exilda (Pelletier) and Arthur Charbonneau, on September 20, 1934, in Detroit, Michigan. She was one of nine children. Alexa graduated from LaSalle University. She married Joseph Kane, the love of her life, in 1957. He preceded her in death in 2022. She is survived by her sisters, Emilia Charbonneau, Marie Gasior, and Theresa Czerwinski, and her children, Theresa Cooney (Stephen McNichol), Terry Kane, Maureen Delaney, David Kane (Julie Moore), Sheila (Kevin) Gorman, and Megan O’Neill (Scott Spencer). She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren, Brendan, Jonathan, Timothy, and Marissa Cooney; Alex and Molly Delaney; Alexa M. Kane; Seth, Matthew, and Ryan Gorman; Kristin, Tom, and Sean O’Neill, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Alexa held a number of jobs where she was able to share her unique gifts which flowed from her caring, nurturing, selfless nature. Alexa was dedicated to her faith including the three years she and Joe spent as missionaries in South Africa, her many years as a member of the Grail, and at Our Mother of Consolation Parish, where she served as a Eucharist Minister and loved her fellow parishioners. Alexa’s passion, after her family and faith, was devoting herself to caring for others including family, church, and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Alexa’s life at visitation on Monday, April 1, 2024, at 9 a.m. at Our Mother of Consolation Roman Catholic Church (9 E. Chestnut Hill Avenue, Philadelphia). A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with burial to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
