Alba V. Bear

Alba Volpe Bear, 93, a long-time resident of Wyndmoor passed away peacefully on November 24, 2022 surrounded by her family. She joins her beloved husband of 61 years, William A. Bear, Jr. Alba is survived by her children Gail, William, III (Devon), Michael (Maura), Thomas (Josie), BJ (Hillary), and Robert Bear along with 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joseph Volpe, and many nieces and nephews. An avid tennis player until her late eighties, Alba also volunteered as a Pink Lady for Chestnut Hill Hospital and several other local charities. For many years, Alba wrote about Wyndmoor news for the Springfield Sun, worked the For Pete’s Sake Fashion Show, and served on the Parish Council for Seven Dolors Church. First and foremost, Alba was devoted to her family, especially her grandchildren. The family is grateful to the administration, nurses, and aides at Artman Assisted Living for their care. Family and friends can call on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Jacob F. Ruth Funeral Home, 8413 Germantown Ave., Philadelphia, PA 19118. A second viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at 9:00 AM at St. Genevieve Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. Following Mass, interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to Artman Assisted Living, 250 N. Bethlehem Pike, Ambler, PA 19002 or St. Genevieve Catholic Church, 1225 Bethlehem Pike, Flourtown, PA 19031.
